Porsche Cayman S after two-step paint correction and one-year ceramic coating in Orlando, Florida

Project overview

  • Vehicle: Porsche Cayman S
  • Project location: Orlando, Florida
  • Paint condition: Moderate to heavy swirl marks and scratches
  • Correction: Two-step paint correction
  • Protection: One-year ceramic coating
  • Goal: Improve the paint safely, restore gloss and clarity, and protect the prepared finish

From first inquiry to a scheduled detail

Every project begins when the customer reaches out for a quote and shares the vehicle, location, concerns, and desired result. We arrange a consultation and in-person paint inspection rather than selecting a correction package from assumptions or photos alone. We examine the finish under suitable lighting, discuss the visible defects, and explain what can realistically be improved.

We then perform a test spot with an appropriate machine, pad, and polish combination. The test spot shows how this specific paint responds and helps determine whether it calls for a one-step, two-step, or more involved multi-stage correction. We also use a paint-thickness gauge where the panel and substrate allow, looking for variations and potential risk areas. Gauge readings inform the process; they are not a guarantee that defects can safely be removed.

Once the test spot and inspection are complete, we explain the recommended package, expected improvement, limitations, and investment. We agree on a package that matches the vehicle's needs and the customer's budget, then schedule the detail.

Vehicle arrival, wash, and exterior preparation

On the scheduled day, we begin with a careful exterior wash to remove loose dirt and road film. Depending on the vehicle's condition, preparation may include a pre-rinse or foam pre-wash, a safe contact wash with clean wash media, and thorough rinsing and drying. Wheels, tires, exterior glass, and accessible jambs are addressed within the agreed scope.

We then chemically decontaminate the paint with an iron remover to target embedded ferrous particles that a normal wash cannot remove. Where bonded contamination remains, we use a lubricated clay bar carefully to lift it from the surface. Decontamination creates a cleaner starting point for polishing; it is not a replacement for paint correction.

What this vehicle needed

The Porsche Cayman S had moderate to heavy swirl marks and scratches that obscured the clarity of the paint and scattered reflections. The customer wanted to restore a sharper, more showroom-like finish rather than simply cover the defects with protection.

The test spot supported a two-step approach. A cutting stage was used to reduce the more pronounced swirls and scratches, followed by a refining polish to improve gloss and clarity. The two-stage process allowed us to address the heavier defects and then refine the finish, while keeping clear-coat preservation at the center of the process.

Correction is performed in controlled sections and checked under appropriate lighting. We clean pads as needed and adjust the approach if a panel responds differently. Paint thickness and clear-coat condition guide how far we can responsibly go. Deep scratches, severe etching, or defects that have penetrated too far may need to remain rather than risk compromising the finish.

Panel preparation and ceramic coating

After polishing, we use an IPA-based panel wipe or suitable coating-preparation solution to remove polishing oils and residue and reveal the true finish. The corrected paint received a one-year ceramic coating. It adds hydrophobic behavior and helps routine washing and maintenance, while protecting the finish from everyday environmental contamination when properly cared for. It does not make paint scratch-proof or prevent stone chips.

The coating is applied to the properly prepared surface, panel by panel, following the product's application and leveling requirements. We inspect for high spots and missed areas, allow the coating to cure as directed, and complete a final inspection under suitable lighting. The customer receives maintenance guidance for the coating.

How our three core services fit together

01 · Mobile detailing

Mobile detailing brings convenient interior and exterior vehicle care to a suitable home or workplace location. Depending on the package, it can include vacuuming, interior surface cleaning, glass, wheels, tires, and a careful exterior wash. It is also how customers maintain a corrected and coated vehicle between major paint services. We do not claim interior detailing was performed on this particular project unless it was included in the agreed scope.

02 · Paint correction

Paint correction uses machine polishing to improve wash-induced swirl marks, marring, haze, and suitable scratches. The correction level is selected through inspection and a test spot. One-step, two-step, and multi-stage approaches are not interchangeable; the right choice depends on the paint and the customer's priorities.

03 · Ceramic coating

Ceramic coating is applied after washing, decontamination, correction as agreed, and panel preparation. It enhances gloss and hydrophobic behavior and can make routine maintenance easier. It does not make paint scratch-proof, prevent rock chips, or eliminate water spots, so safe washing and ongoing care remain important.

Final inspection and ongoing care

We finish by checking the paint and coating under suitable lighting and reviewing care instructions with the customer. Safe maintenance washing, prompt removal of contaminants, and avoiding abrasive automatic brush washes help preserve the finish. Coating durability varies with driving conditions, storage, wash habits, and maintenance.
